*Summer Challenge
Students who participate in fitness
activities during the summer can receive points for summer challenge prizes.
Activities include: Running, baseball, basketball, football, swimming, etc. Any
activities that help you stay physically fit. Students are encouraged to
participate in activities 5 times a week for at least 30 minutes. Students
should keep track on summer challenge tracker sheet. A great Summer!!!!!
Components of Fitness
1) Muscular Strength
is the ability of a muscle to push or pull at maximum
strength. (ex) Push-ups
2) Muscular Endurance
is the ability of a muscle to push or pull at repeated
movements over an extended amount of time. (ex)
Crunches
3) Cardiorespiratory
Endurance
is the ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen to
the muscles for exercise. (ex) running, jump rope
4) Flexibility
is the ability of joints to move through a full range of
movement. (ex) stretching
5) Body Composition
is the difference between fat-mass and fat-free mass.
